Susan P. Burton will be receiving the TCWLA Attorney Award for Outstanding Achievement on April 26, 2024 at the TCWLA/TCWLF Grants & Awards Luncheon. This award is given to recognize attorneys for their long standing hard work, dedication, and contributions to the legal profession and the community. In addition to her dedication to her clients and her employment law practice, Susan has been an active volunteer and leader in the legal community, including her work with Volunteer Legal Services of Central Texas, the Austin Bar Association, Travis County Women Lawyers Foundation, and the State Bar Grievance Committee.

Susan has and continues to volunteer her time as a board member and in leadership positions for a number of non-profit organizations in Central Texas. These community non-profits (past and present) include the YMCA of Greater Austin, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Austin, Greater Austin Sports Foundation, PAWS Shelter of Central Texas, and Austin Public Library Friends Foundation.

Since 1991, TCWLA has celebrated the contributions of the unsung heroines of the legal profession. These awards are meant to highlight the low-profile contributions made by members of the profession. These individuals are assets to the local legal community. The award recipients, who are nominated by their peers, show their merit in their work, their volunteer activities and the atmosphere they create in the workplace. The list of award recipients includes many of the outstanding individuals in law in Travis County.
