Biography

Desiree Brutocao, Of Counsel, is licensed to practice law in California and Texas. Prior to joining Cornell Smith, she worked as a litigation associate at a national law firm and then as a contractor in a legal department of a multi-state employer.

Ms. Brutocao’s practice focuses on the representation of Texas, California and multi-state employers. In addition to providing day-to-day advice on how to address the emerging employment issues for an increasingly remote workforce with employees spread out across different states, she represents clients in litigation, advises employers on workplace accommodation issues, conducts investigations regarding complaints of discrimination, and assists clients with government investigations. Ms. Brutocao also assists employers in preparing responses to charges of discrimination filed with the EEOC or state agencies, conducting Form I-9 audits, advising employers regarding wage and hour compliance issues, and providing updated employee handbooks, policies, employment agreements, and separation and release agreements for exiting employees.
