All of our attorneys are members of the Austin and Texas Bar Associations and actively involved in supporting our legal community. Connie CornellTed Smith, Steven Mierl, and Susan Burton have been elected and served as Chair of the Labor and Employment Law Section of the Austin Bar Association, and during their term as Section Chair, also served on the Board of the Austin Bar Association. Susan Burton has chaired the Travis County Women Lawyers Foundation and the Labor and Employment Law Advisory Commission of the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.  Andrew Broadaway has served as Vice-President of the Austin Chapter of the Federal Bar Association and is on the “Fellows” nomination committee for the Texas Bar Foundation.  Our attorneys have supported local pro bono efforts, including volunteering for Volunteer Legal Services of Central Texas, where both Susan Burton and Connie Cornell served on the Board for over a decade, including Susan Burton’s two terms as Chair.

Collectively, our attorneys are frequently invited to speak on a variety of employment law topics to industry associations, human resource professionals, and at continuing education programs for attorneys, addressing a wide variety of employment-related topics.  Our attorneys have been repeated guest lecturers at the University of Texas School of Law, where Andrew Broadaway has also served as an Adjunct Professor.
